Head Units & CarPlay
Why Won't My Phone Connect to My Car Anymore?
Your phone used to connect to your car and now it doesn't. Here are the most common reasons — and when it means it's time for a head unit upgrade.

The Most Common Culprits
Your phone stopped connecting to your car. It's frustrating, and it's one of the most common complaints we hear. Here's what's usually going on:
1. Your factory system is outdated. Bluetooth standards change. If your car is 8+ years old, its Bluetooth module may not play nicely with modern phones. The connection drops, the audio stutters, or it won't pair at all.
2. The USB port is worn out. If you connect via cable, the port in your dash gets loose over time. A loose connection means intermittent drops and charging problems.
3. Your phone updated. Sometimes a phone OS update breaks compatibility with an older car system. It's not your fault — it's a software mismatch.
4. The aux input is failing. If you use a 3.5mm aux cable, the jack can wear out or the cable can go bad.
The Real Fix: A Head Unit With CarPlay or Android Auto
If your factory radio is the problem, no amount of resetting your phone will fix it permanently. The solution is a modern head unit with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto — it connects wirelessly, charges your phone, gives you navigation, music, and calls on a touchscreen, and it's designed to work with current and future phones.
A new head unit is one of the most impactful upgrades you can make. It fixes the connection problem and gives you a dramatically better driving experience.
